The number of coaching changes we’re seeing at Cal in Justin Wilcox’s ninth year at the helm are not exactly a good sign.
Defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, who had been with Wilcox since his second year at Cal, left to become the New Orleans Saints linebackers coach. It’s still Wilcox’s defense, but losing a core guy like that might be a canary in the coal mine. They internally promoted STC/OLBs coach Vic So’oto and DBs coach Terrence Brown to co-defensive coordinator roles.
